Greg Minnaar Wins Again In Fort William
Greg Minnaar took a win at Round 3 of the British National Series here in Fort William today with a 5 second margin over 2nd place Ben Cathro, proving this venue a real favourite for the South African. Take a look at Greg's headcam footage from the weekend's training, cmplete with onboard commentary. www.youtube.com Greg was in Scotland running one of his popular Big Air Training Camps, after a week holidaying in Montenegro, and took his clients racing in the NPS 3rd round. The midgies were ever present, but rain stayed away for most of the week. In the seeding run yesterday Greg was the only rider under 5 minutes, stopping the clock at 4m 52.904secs with Britain's Marc Beaumont 2nd with a time right on the 5 minute mark. "I was aiming for a 4-55 as the track is pretty rough. Bob and the course guys have done a massive job getting it sorted after the World Cup, but there's been a bit of rain since then and new holes have formed. I wanted to get down steady and clean, so a 4-52 was a bit of a surprise", said Greg. In the final today Greg took a couple of training runs in the morning and felt good about the afternoon, providing plenty of words of encouragement for the riders in his training camp, that ranged in age from 13 to 37, that rode before him. In the end, the win was 5 and a half seconds over Ben Cathro, who was riding well all weekend. Greg was almost relieved to get the win. "I busted the clip on one of my pedals on a rock up top and had to spin the pedal with my right foot on more than one occasion to get clipped back in, and was worried I'd lost too much time. I knew Ben and Marc would be strong today, so I'm happy for the win, but to be honest, I was really happy for my riders here at the camp, they all did well this weekend and they were great to work with." Greg now heads home for 2 weeks in South Africa before continuing his World Cup campaign in Canada later this month. Final Results: 1. Greg Minnaar (RSA) - 4m 50.483s 2.
